0-AGENT
2026 · Tool · TypeScript / Bun, Node.js
A terminal AI coding agent built on opencode: any model via OpenRouter, 24 custom plugins and safety guardrails.
0-AGENT is a modified fork of the open-source agent opencode (MIT), configured as a standalone equivalent of Claude Code running on OpenRouter (default model: Kimi K2.6). On top of opencode it adds a launch wrapper, 24 custom plugins (background commands, PowerShell, networking with SSRF protection, memory, permissions and trust boundaries, a scheduler, MCP import, VS Code editor context) and minimal core patches: 12 files changed and 2 added, each with a recorded reason. It was developed in two stages: a thin launcher (v1.x, May–June 2026), then a full fork (the v6.x cycle, September 2026). It is not affiliated with either opencode or Anthropic.
The task
A coding agent was needed that is not tied to a single model provider: inexpensive models via OpenRouter, running on a VPS, a key pool and protection against destructive commands during autonomous work.
What’s inside
- Any OpenRouter model; moonshotai/kimi-k2.6 by default, with Claude Haiku 4.5 as the backup model (provider-side fallback)
- 24 plugins in the 0-AGENT layer: background commands, a second shell (PowerShell), networking with SSRF protection, memory, permissions, waiting and scheduling, MCP import
- Working in another directory via --dir with a separate settings layer: the agent keeps its model, its plugins and its command bans
- A ban on “sleeping” (sleep, timeout) in the permission rules; a budget limit via --max-budget-usd; rolling a session back to its state before a given message
- VS Code extension (passes the open file and the selection to the agent), build into a binary, weekly sync with upstream via CI
- Engine mode (v1.x): two engines taking turns (Claude → OpenCode), rotation of OpenRouter keys and OAuth tokens, a refusal “judge”
