A desktop window onto your Claude Code CLI: a project is a folder, a chat is a CLI session, settings are real files.
Mofu Desktop is an Electron app that looks like a chat client but runs on top of an already installed Claude Code CLI and duplicates nothing: chats are the CLI’s own session files, projects are ordinary folders with CLAUDE.md, permissions and connectors are the real CLI settings. The app does not ship an engine and does not ask for a password: sign-in goes through the standard claude auth login. Version 1.0.2 (14 August 2026) passed acceptance against the real engine, with checks green on Windows, Linux and macOS; the release is not public — it is for a small circle of users.
The task
To provide a convenient windowed interface to Claude Code CLI without a second copy of the data: everything that changes in the window is visible in the terminal, and vice versa.
What’s inside
- Chats as CLI session files: rename, pin, delete, rewind to one of your messages, a temporary chat that is not written to disk
- Projects as folders: instructions in CLAUDE.md, added files in files/, and “exclude from context” writes a rule to the project’s .claude/settings.json
- Permissions that are visible and can be switched mid-conversation (ask, edit silently, decide on its own, don’t ask)
- Artifacts with version history, comparison, restore and previews of Markdown, tables, diagrams, React and PDF
- Cron-based task scheduling with an honest record of missed runs and their reasons
- Search across chats, projects and artifacts, 8 remappable keyboard shortcuts, two languages, light and dark themes, a calm design mode without the mascot
